I don’t want to use the Apple Watch anymore, why I’m planning to go back to normal watches

by

As a long-time Apple Watch user, I’ve enjoyed the convenience and features it offers. However, after careful consideration, I’ve planning to return to traditional wristwatches. In this blog, I’ll explore three key reasons behind my decision.

1. Daily Charging Hassle

The Apple Watch is a remarkable piece of technology, but it demands daily charging. Unlike mechanical watches that can run for days or even weeks without needing a power source, the Apple Watch requires nightly charging. This routine became cumbersome for me. I missed the simplicity of winding a watch or replacing a battery every few years. With a traditional watch, I never worried about running out of power during the day.

2. Glancing vs. Staring

While the Apple Watch provides instant notifications on your wrist, I found myself constantly glancing down to check them. This behavior disrupted my focus and made me feel tethered to my device. I realized that I preferred seeing notifications on my phone screen, where I could choose when to engage with them. A traditional watch doesn’t distract me in the same way; it discreetly tells the time without demanding my attention.

3. Upgrading Dilemma

Apple consistently releases new watch models with upgraded features and faster chips. However, this rapid evolution means that older Apple Watches eventually become obsolete. After a few years, the older hardware struggles to keep up with the latest software updates. Upgrading to a new Apple Watch becomes necessary, which can be expensive. In contrast, a well-maintained mechanical watch can last a lifetime and even become an heirloom.

Conclusion: In summary, while the Apple Watch offers impressive functionality, I’ve found myself desiring to return to traditional watches. The daily charging, constant notifications, and upgrade cycle is starting to become a chore. As I transition back to a classic timepiece, I appreciate the timeless elegance and simplicity it brings to my wrist.
